Wonky hitboxes, slippery controls and overall obnoxious design all make for a game that I don't even want to look at any longer than I have to.Let's start with the hitboxes: they're not exactly clearly defined. Apparently, your character and the enemies' bodies are slightly wider than they appear. And with the short range of the uppercut, you often find yourself getting hit by enemies before they die. Or, in some instances, after. This leads into the movement controls—see, this game sports a timer, so that increases the urgency of the player's mission.
You don't know how far you have to go (and there's no way to track progress through the level), so there's an instinctive need to rush through the game. So while you're running, you'll more than likely crash into the fourth or fifth enemy you run into, unaware that they're moving towards you at a snail's pace. If you run into them before they die, your attack is canceled; if you kill them and maintain any type of forward momentum on the floor made of ice, you will more than likely crash into your enemy's corpse as it levitates upward.Barring an uncountable number of deaths by this point and sliding under the first real obstacle in the game, you're brought to your first platforming section. It appears simple enough, but the first jump is placed just far enough away that a normal jump won't let you safely land on it. (I would know, I tried four times at varying distances from the edge.) You have to do a running jump and control your momentum such that you don't fall off the narrow ledges.and it's at this point that I want to get into the camera controls. In a game like this, where your only objective is to move forward, it's incredibly detrimental to the player that your avatar is placed in the MIDDLE of the screen, effectively halving your vision. That is, unless you do as I did and bound your camera keys to the movement keys.
(I did this accidentally at first, but it proved to be a huge boon to me so I kept it for a while.) That was before I got to the mandatory platforming section, where every time I had to let go of the Right Arrow, my camera would stutter back and forth as I tried in vain to land on the narrow perch. It's at this point I recommend to anyone playing that you set your controls to something more user-friendly. Since running is used with Left Shift by default, I find it easier to re-bind the punch button to 'Z'. Rocket royale download for pc.
That said, you'll want to bind your camera controls to a button that's easier for you to hold for long periods of time, or to a button you won't be letting go of often—in my case, that was either 'X' (recommended) or Left Shift. So I get past the first row of bullshit—over the platforms, jump over the purple bat-pig-thing to collect the first of three piss droplets(?), and HOLY FUCK, MY FIRST CHECKPOINT! Finally, a sign of progress! All I have to do is get past this new enemy: a red bat. 'But it's so high up in the air. It can't possibly pose a threat, can it?'
Is what I think to myself before getting dive-bombed like it's 1941 and my name is Pearl Harbor. So it's dead now, right? I can just walk past—OH, WHAT A NAIVE FOOL AM I.
I try to walk past the thing with my last of three hit points, thinking it's safe, completely forgetting that you can still die to enemy corpses.Start again. Kill the pink bats. Let them come to you. Sprint jump over the platforms. Duck the purple bats. Punch the shit out of the rats (don't try to jump over; even though you can, it's a 50/50 shot). Collect the piss.
Duck-slide under the red bat. Grab the checkpoint. Thank fuck. After passing by a new worm enemy that is a welcome respite from the rest of the game's insanity, I get told to jump down a pit. I jump as far as I can, and land at the bottom, continuing forward across even more awkwardly spaced pillars to grab a second piss droplet. Then comes a second large pit.
'Oh, maybe it's like the last one where I can jump and fall to a lower section of the cave—NOPE. Jumped to my death. It's then that I realized why there are two types of camera controls, one facing right. And a second facing left. Yeah, once you fall down the giant enemy-laden pit, you have to start going left.
And thinking I was some clever bastard and binding my rightward camera to Left Shift, I hit a giant snag. I now have approximately one inch of foresight before hitting anything in front of me. But somehow, I got past the worms and the giant bouncy bat before I found it immediately impossible to progress through the game any further without losing my checkpoints.Oh, that's another thing you need to mind—if you get a checkpoint, it saves however little life and time you had left at that stage in the game.

So if you leisurely meandered through the first stage to get your bearings, like I'm sure many people did, you would have almost no life and no health at all. Even while rushing through the game (barring the mandatory wait times to kill certain impassible enemies), I only got to the checkpoint with about 100 seconds and 1 HP to spare.
